 What is homogenization ?

 The word homogeneous has origins in Medieval Latin homogeneus, equivalent to homogene stem of Greek homogenḗs of the same kind .

 This refers to anything being similar. When this is applied to the process industry , homogenizer is a device which is used in making any number of liquids or solid- liquids homogeneous.

 If we talk about this at a commercial scale, homogenizer is a device which can blend , dissolve, disperse, emulsify or mix 2 or more hetrogeneous liquids or liquid-solids.




 Hence homogenizers have gained a lot of popularity in the processing industry owing to their fast and energy efficient outputs with a very minimum space requirement.

 Homogenizers act on centrifugal force producing varied results according to requirement.

 The homogenizers feature 4 main parts :

1.)     Rotor : The rotor rotates at a high speed causing negative suction driving the liquids towards itself.

2.)     Stator : The rotor then expels the liquids outwards passing the stator. The designs of stators are varied according to application .

3.)     Sealing system : According to process , homogenizers require different sealing systems

4.)     Drive motor : TEFC ( Totally enclosed fan cooled ) , Flameproof or Stainless steel

An agitator is a device or mechanism to put something into motion by shaking or stirring. Industrial agitators are machines used in industries that process products in the chemical, food, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries, in a view of:

 Jetfoil agitator: Jetfoil or hydrofoil agitator blades are similar to the aerofoil used in airplanes. They are useful to drag the material in the direction of the blades. They are used in numbers in a vessel and each consecutive blade is placed in the opposite direction such that the blade at bottom throws the material upwards while the one at the top throws the material downwards.

 Anchor agitator: Anchors are close-clearance impellers that fit the contour of the vessel thus, encompassing the complete circumference area in the vessel. Anchor Agitators are used for optimizing the mixing system for higher viscosity.

 Contra-rotary agitator: Contra Rotary Agitator comprises of a dual drive, each drive has blades rotating in contra directions (i.e. one in clockwise direction and the other in anti-clockwise) to completely blend highly viscous products.
